With the festive opening of the new Bio-LNG station in Großmehring (Bavaria) on 22 October 2025, Rolande took the next step in making heavy road transport in Germany more sustainable. During the event, which took place at the strategically located site along the A9 motorway, customers, partners, policymakers and the media came together to celebrate the opening.

To mark this new milestone, Rolande is offering a temporary introductory price of €0.65 per kilo of LNG (net, excluding VAT). This promotion runs until 30 November 2025 and is only valid at Rolande Großmehring.

Festive opening with partners, customers and the press

The official opening on 22 October was kicked off with a welcome speech by CEO Jolon van der Schuit. Member of the Bundestag Christian Moser also emphasised in his speech the importance of alternative fuels such as Bio-LNG for achieving climate targets in the transport sector. Those present were then given a demonstration of the latest LNG trucks and a practical explanation of the refuelling process with Bio-LNG.

In addition to the speeches and demonstrations, there was time for questions, networking and a cup of coffee at the mobile coffee bike. Guests included fleet managers, logistics managers, truck manufacturers and representatives from the sector.

LNG at an exclusive promotional price

To celebrate the opening, Rolande is temporarily offering an introduction price of €0.65 per kilo of LNG (net, excluding VAT) at the station in Großmehring. This promotion is valid until 30 November 2025.

A strategic location for international transport

The new station in Großmehring is located directly on the A9 motorway, one of Europe’s most important north-south corridors for logistics. This gives the location a key role in connecting southern Germany with Rolande’s existing network in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Germany.

‘We remain focused on investing in the expansion of our network to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport across Europe, without compromising on profitability, range or availability,’ said Jolon van der Schuit, CEO of Rolande.

Bio-LNG: fossil-free driving is already possible today

The station offers 100% Bio-LNG, produced from organic waste streams such as manure and food waste. This fuel can be used directly in existing LNG trucks and can achieve up to 200% CO₂ reduction compared to diesel. Rolande’s Bio-LNG is also fully certified and meets the requirements of CSRD reporting.

With two LNG pumps, wide access roads and self-service functionality, the station is equipped for intensive use in international transport. It is open 24/7 and compatible with all LNG vehicles. Thanks to cooperation with card partners such as DKV, Romac and IDS, drivers can easily refuel using their existing fuel card.

Sustainable growth in Germany

With the opening in Großmehring, Rolande is taking further steps in expanding its network in Germany. By strategically investing in refuelling locations at logistics hotspots, the company is making sustainable mobility more accessible to transporters and shippers throughout Europe.
